Snorkel Fins for Legs Comfortable Snorkeling Gear
~ shinfin™ Snorkeling Equipment ~
Snorkel fins for legs = freedom for feet Snorkeling fins that strap to your legs
If you are looking for comfortable snorkel fins that don't strain your feet, ankles and calf muscles - snorkel gear that you can walk in - then this page is for you. I offer you the evolutionary benefits of shinfin™ fins for your snorkeling equipment.
Good snorkeling gear should get power from the big muscles in your thighs, buttocks, stomach and torso - the same muscles as streamlined swimming without fins. Your snorkeling equipment should be comfortable and not strain your feet, ankles, Achilles tendons and calf muscles. Good snorkel fins should also minimise disturbance to the marine environment. Your snorkel gear should work for slow snorkeling through to faster snorkeling with a faster kick rate, always with a smooth, efficient and streamlined technique. The better your snorkel technique and equipment, the more you will enjoy snorkeling.
I have designed shinfin™ fins to provide all these snorkeling benefits, and more. They achieve this by connecting power directly to your legs, above your ankle joints. This means that your feet and ankles are free to move naturally (not strained like with foot flippers). Your kick power comes from the correct muscles in your thighs, buttocks, stomach and torso. They help to keep your body horizontal and improve your streamlined kick, stroke efficiency and speed. You can even adjust the fin position on your leg to suit your snorkeling technique. This is why shinfin™ fins are a significant snorkeling equipment evolution above foot flippers.

We have many happy customers using shinfin™ fins for snorkeling. The fins work well for surface snorkeling, duck diving and snorkeling underwater. They have a comfortable, natural feel - without straining your feet and ankles like foot flippers. They work with a streamlined kick, with your knees fairly straight and power from your thighs, buttocks, stomach and torso. You can do faster shorter kicks or slower longer kicks - whatever you prefer. They don’t kick up as much sand as foot flippers and cause less damage to the marine environment.
The straps adjust so you can wear shinfin™ fins with a wetsuit and/or water shoes. To minimize drag, water shoes should be streamlined and flexible so you can point your toes (no heavy sole or heel areas). Use light, flexible water shoes designed for swimming and beach walking.
Because I have designed shinfin™ fins to match good streamlined kicks for freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, as well as being good snorkel equipment, they also improve your swimming technique (arms too), stroke efficiency and speed. You feel how they help to keep your body horizontal for less drag. You feel how they guide you to kick from your hips, with only a little knee-bend. You feel the power of shinfin™ swimming fins coming from the big muscles in your upper legs, buttocks, stomach and torso. These are same muscles you use for good "no-fins" swimming technique (without straining your feet, ankles and calf muscles like foot flippers). You also feel how they give the correct body balance to support your arm stroke. So you know your snorkeling technique with shinfin™ fins is also strengthening your natural swimming kick. I offer you shinfin™ fins as biomechanically advanced snorkel gear, an evolutionary step up from all foot flippers to improve your snorkeling and your swimming technique.

Yes the fins are great. We took them to Thailand and used them for swimming and snorkeling. Once we got used to them, we had a ball. I think they are great. They are also light and easy to pack! I do swimming and snorkeling mainly in summer, about once a week during this time. – Urszula from Wembley Downs, Australia.

I enjoy snorkeling but have a problem with my foot which is aggravated by normal flippers only allowing me to swim for short periods. As shinfin™ fins don’t bend the foot I thought that they would be ideal for me. I first tried them in a local pool and after a few adjustments I was finally swimming in a straight line. I went snorkeling and the shinfin™ fins were perfect, everything I had hoped they would be, great control and maneuverability and best of all no pain in the foot so I was in the water till I turned blue. Many thanks for a great invention. - Bill from Rockingham, Australia.

Hi Marc, last year I purchased two pairs of shinfin™ fins. We went snorkeling at Byron at Xmas. Snorkeling was very rough, too deep, strong current - didn't see a thing... BUT shinfin™ fins were excellent. Despite not being strong swimmers could keep up with rest of strapping young men in rough seas and current. Design meant that my sister with the tender scars on top of both feet did not get sore feet. So were very good and am very happy with them. Going to Vanuatu or Fiji in June this year for some hopefully better snorkeling and will be further delighted with shinfin™ fins I'm sure. Have a great New Year. - Jo from Canberra, Australia.

I think they are great. I left them at home when we went to Lord Howe and I had to use conventional ones. That was when I felt the difference most profoundly. - Michael from Sydney, Australia.

For snorkeling they are excellent, being able to walk in and out of the water quite easily, and by using the whole of the leg as a kicking action you use far less energy and do not get tired. I wear diving boots with them allowing access to reef areas and no problems with sharp objects or marine life. - Steve from Morley, WA, Australia.

Yes, they're good. I'm using them for spear fishing and snorkeling and small reef diving. I found they are good if you are kicking from the hip using your thigh muscles more, minimising your ankle kicking. Thanks for your support. It's not often you get this sort of follow up and support. Keep it up. Thanks. - Matty from Gladstone, QLD, Australia.

Shinfin™ fins are my savior. If they did not exist, I could not swim. I have severe foot problems. These fins take the stress off my feet, transferring it to my shins. I went snorkeling in Hawaii two weeks ago, two days in a row, without pain. These fins represent the genius of elegantly simple solutions to complex problems. Do you want me to make TV commercials? – Russ from Redwood City, USA.

The fins are working a treat, I have taken them out a few times snorkeling and once I got used to them they became a lot easier. I realised that they are a lot easier to use and less strain on your legs. At first I was a bit hesitant about the shinfin™ fins but now I realise how good they really are. My brother has tried them and wants to buy a pair of his own already. – Jono from Perth, Australia.

When snorkeling its good to be able to walk over the top of a rocky reef and get back in on the other side without having to take off and put back on a pair of flippers. – Bill from Christchurch, New Zealand.

Katrina and I have both been using the shinfin™ fins and are very happy with them. We used them when snorkeling on the reef. The shinfin™ fins performed well, and as our other friends were using conventional flippers, it was interesting to compare them. The main advantages of the shinfin™ fins over the conventional flippers were the ease of moving around when they were on, and with the shinfin™ fins, your ankles did not tire as quickly, meaning that you could stay in the water for longer. – Peter from Brisbane, Australia.
