Guided movement !
Technique training fins
Why? Because they fit on your legs
shinfin™ = Your stroke enhancing flippers
Every so often a product comes along that matches and trains your natural movements, feels great and improves your technique. shinfin™ leg fins do all this. They train you to move naturally in the water, the way your body should be moving, the way that feels best. They train you to improve your natural swimming techniques, rather than forcing you into unnatural movements (like foot flippers do). And, most importantly, your body remembers your new improved swim technique even after you take your fins off - the new kick pattern is automatically imprinted into your memory.
This ability of shinfin™ leg fins to train and improve your natural swimming techniques is one of the things that I, as the inventor/designer, am most passionate about. It's all about designing swim fins to match the natural biomechanical movements of your whole body in the water. No matter whether you are a child or adult, learning to swim or already an elite swimmer, able bodied or have a movement disability or lower limb amputation - shinfin™ leg fins will still train your swim technique. If you already know how to swim, their guidance enhances and strengthens your natural swimming techniques in the correct way. If you are learning to swim, their guidance teaches you your natural swimming techniques. If you are serious about your freestyle, backstroke and butterfly techniques, your fins should be on your legs, not on your feet. Read on to learn why...

How do foot flippers ruin your swimming technique?
What bad techniques have foot fins given you?
Everyone can experience the swimming technique training capabilities of shinfin™ leg fins. It doesn't matter whether you are learning to swim or already a good swimmer, child or adult, able-bodied or disabled. Just go through these steps to feel the stroke enhancing benefits and also to learn how to get the best from your shinfin™ leg fins.
With only a little forward speed from your arms, and even without kicking, shinfin™ leg fins will gently streamline your body. Because the fins are on your legs (not on your feet), the water pressure on the fins lifts your legs horizontal without bending your knees. So they encourage fairly straight knees, raise your hips and guide your body into a horizontal streamlined position. This minimises body drag and makes swimming much more efficient and enjoyable. If you are already a good swimmer, the shinfin™ streamlining will feel familiar and natural. If you are a new or improving swimmer (even if you can't swim yet), then shinfin™ leg fins will teach your body to streamline properly.
When you pull with your arms, your legs must push down to counterbalance your arm pull (from the laws of physics). shinfin™ leg fins train you to achieve the proper force balance between your arms and legs. If you are already a good swimmer, this shinfin™ counter-balancing will feel natural and enhance your overall stroke (arms too). If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just relax and shinfin™ leg fins will teach you how to counterbalance the forces between your arms and legs.
As you kick, the shinfin™ leg fin flexes towards then away from your leg. This natural flex trains your legs during each forward kick, each backward kick and during both transitions inbetween. This flex action also encourages smooth power delivery throughout your kicking cycle, for optimal efficiency. So they guide you into an efficient streamlined kick from your hips with the correct, small, amount of knee-bend. If you are already a good swimmer, you will feel the shinfin™ flex enhancing and strengthening your natural kick. If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just relax and shinfin™ leg fins will teach you how to do a natural streamlined kick.
When you kick forward, the fin presses gently along the front of your foot, training you when to point your toes, whilst keeping your ankle and foot relaxed and supple. When you kick backward, the fin flexes away from your foot, training you to flex your ankle, whilst still keeping your ankle and foot relaxed and supple. If you are already a good swimmer, you will hardly feel the shinfin™ leg fins on your feet and you can move your ankles and feet like you normally do. If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just relax and shinfin™ leg fins will teach you when and how to flex your ankles and move your feet.
Efficient swimming is all about smooth delivery of power by the right muscles at the right time. shinfin™ leg fins train your muscles to achieve this smooth and efficient power delivery. If you are already a good swimmer, you will feel the extra shinfin™ power and speed building your correct muscles stronger for your natural swim technique. If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just relax and shinfin™ leg fins will teach you which muscles to use, and when, so your muscles learn to deliver efficient power for your natural swim technique.
It is fascinating how your body remembers your new improved swim techniques even after you remove your shinfin™ leg fins. You can feel the new kick pattern getting automatically imprinted into your memory. If you are already a good swimmer you will feel the shinfin™ swim technique to be very similar to your no-fins technique, so switching between shinfin™ leg fins and no fins does not require stroke adjustment. (In contrast, after using foot flippers, it often takes a few hundred metres of swimming to get back into your normal stroke). If you are a new or improving swimmer, then you will be amazed how much better your no-fins swimming becomes, especially if you keep swimming immediately after removing your shinfin™ leg fins and repeat this exercise each time you swim, to develop your natural swim technique.
You will feel all the above swim technique improvements for freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. (shinfin™ leg fins are not designed for breaststroke, although some people find them OK for breaststroke when they angle the fins outward a bit on their legs). If you are already a good swimmer, shinfin™ leg fins will build your swim technique and strength for your natural freestyle, backstroke and butterfly strokes. If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just relax and shinfin™ leg fins will teach you how to develop your natural swim techniques for freestyle, backstroke and butterfly strokes.
shinfin™ fins can be positioned at different heights and angles on your legs to match your kick direction and power. Interestingly, people tend to position them naturally, without needing to think about it too much. As long as you start off with the fins in a reasonable position (usually with the fin tip centre at about your second toenail) then the fins themselves guide you to position them to match your kick direction. For example, if you point your feet inward when you kick, then you will naturally tend to angle the fins a bit further around to the outsides of your legs. If you wish to increase power, then you will naturally push the fins lower on your legs. If you are already a good swimmer, then you will naturally fine-tune the fin position on your legs, and may even adust them slightly differently for your freestyle, backstroke and butterfly strokes. If you are a new or improving swimmer, then just start with the fin tip centre at about your second toenail and then fine-tune the fin position as your swimming technique progresses.

I love them. They work your quads and abs so strongly that I don’t want to swim anymore without them. Thanks for such a great product. You can use my testimonial. I am a Chiropractor and also have a Masters Degree in Sports Health Science and I have tried other fins and these are the best. - Dr William from Puerto Rico.

They are great. I can definitely feel the change in the muscle sets that are used with the shinfin™ swimming fins compared to the other foot fins. I have also had no more problems with cramping in my feet. – Susan from Canberra, Australia.

They perform exactly as you describe. – Florida, USA.

They work great and the level of comfort is excellent. Finally the limiting factor isn't pain in my feet. Much different feel from traditional fins, but this is a good thing. Rather than stressing all the other joints as regular fins did, pressure is concentrated in a more natural area. - Tom from San Diego, USA.
