  • Triathlon training: bilateral below knee amputee

Hannah really loves her shinfinTM fins for triathlon training, as a bilateral below knee amputee. She mainly swims freestyle in open water and pools. She finds that these fins give her a better workout because they lift her body horizontal and support a strong stroke balance. Furthermore, she finds that these fins improve her swimming form, which enters her muscle memory and so transfers to her swimming without fins in triathlon competitions. A paralympic athlete recommended shinfinTM fins to her and they have impressed her coaches as well. So now Hannah recommends them to other amputees too.

    Lee’s review from Coralville, USA

“My daughter is a bilateral below knee amputee who competes in triathlons. She loves the shinfinTM fins. They have really helped her with improving her form and getting a better workout. Her coaches are very impressed with her fins and we have recommended them to other amputees that we know. She definitely feels that she is a stronger, better swimmer now. Even when she is not wearing them. Another paralympic athlete who is an amputee, recommended the shinfinTM fins to Hannah.”

  • Symes foot amputation: team training fins

Following a Symes amputation of his foot, Harry uses his shinfinTM fin for training sessions with his swim team. This helps him to swim faster and develop his thigh muscles. This is because shinfin™ fins guide him to kick from his hips. So they encouage proper streamlined swimming kicks for freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. Even with amputations, it is usually best to wear a pair of shinfinTM fins for a proper balanced stroke.

Brenda’s review from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

“My 12 year old grandson had a Symes amputation due to a road traffic accident 18 months ago. He has been training with our local swim team. He is as fast and even faster than some of his peers, with or without his shinfinTM fin, but needs the shinfinTM fin for his thigh muscle development.”

  • National team freestyle training fins

Yiannis’ daughter uses her shinfinTM fins for freestyle swim training and is a member of the National Swimming Team of Cyprus. They help her to train for better freestyle swimming because they encourage her to kick from her hips with a streamlined kick, keeping her body horizontal in the water. As shinfinTM fins are so adjustable, they fit her even though she is very tall and has very thin feet. This is because the fins flex to wrap around her leg and the straps adjust to secure the fins snugly above her ankles. In contrast, she found that no regular foot flippers fit.

    Yiannis’ review from Nicosia, Cyprus

“The shinfinTM fins are the perfect solution for my daughter, gold medal at freestyle and member of Cyprus National Team. Because she is very tall and has very thin feet, none of the regular swim flippers were fitting! Now she uses shinfinTM fins everyday for training!! Thanks. I think you must advertise more this magic solution!!”

  • Feet disabilities: para-swim training fins

Owen, with disabilities in both feet, has been para-swim training with his shinfinTM fins for about five years. They adjust to fit on his legs. He has been so successful, that he has reached number one UK rankings in his para-classification. These include 50 metres freestyle, 100 metres freestyle and 100 metres breastroke. He is also captain of the University of Nottingham swimming team and on the England Para-swimming Talent Development squad. Owen finds shinfinTM fins extremely helpful for improving his kick action because they lift his thighs and body horizontal. This gives him the best swimming style. Furthermore, he finds them extremely helpful for improving his leg strength because they encourage proper kick power from his hips.

    Owen’s review from Nottingham, UK

“shinfinTM fins have been extremely helpful in helping improve my kick action and leg strength, letting me participate in sessions I previously wasn’t able to.”

Mark (father): “So, thank you. The fins have been really effective and they allow Owen to train with able-bodied swimmers. We purchased two pairs of shinfinTM fins and Owen hasn’t looked back since. Now when kicking drills are ordered in training, he can match the able-bodied swimmers and the session is no longer an exercise in disheartening futility!”

  • No foot cramps: lap swimming fins

Alan has loved his shinfinTM fins for over four years, swimming laps for an hour or so up to five times a week, especially because they don’t cramp the small muscles in his feet like regular fins do. He feels the fin propulsion being transferred directly to his shins, so avoiding cramping his feet and making them more comfortable. What’s more, the lifeguard instructor at his pool thought they would be good for lifeguards, as you can even run wearing them and then get extra propulsion in the water.

    Alan’s review from Newark, USA

“I just swim laps in the pool, but I swim a lot of laps. For three of the last four years I was using them 2 or 3 times a week, sometimes 5 times. I guess that averages to something near 600 uses. What happened with regular fins is that they work in such a way as to cause cramping of one the little muscles at the bottom of my foot. This would cause me to have to stop swimming. The shinfinTM fins work in such a way as to transfer all the propulsive effort from the foot, to the shin. This has worked great for me. I was easily swimming an hour at a time. Folks often ask about the shinfinTM fins. I always tell them, because it is true, that I love them. Then refer them to you. Good luck with your unique product.”

  • No gout arthritis pains in ankle, foot, heel & knee: lap fins

For many years, Harley has found shinfinTM fins fantastic for his lap swimming because they don’t bend his ankles, so they don’t trigger gout arthritis pains in his ankle, foot, heel and knee. This is because they strap above his ankles, leaving his ankles and feet free. In contrast, conventional foot fins strain his ankles, which can cause a gout arthritis attack.

    Harley’s review from Brisbane, Australia

“I have had the fins for about 4 years and have used them every year for about 3 months in summer swimming laps. They have been fantastic, as they put no bending moment on my ankles. I suffer from gout from time to time and if I use conventional swim fins my ankles take strain and that can lead to a gout attack. This is not a pleasant experience believe me. Your shinfinTM fins are a marvellous invention.”

  • Stronger muscles, better butterfly: pool & sea fins

For many years, shinfinTM fins have helped to give Alona a better butterfly stroke and stronger muscles in her buttocks, stomach and legs, for improved swim technique in the pool and sea. This is because they encourage her to kick from her hips to give her a better swim style. Alona is also a Pilates instructor and there was some discussion about wearing shinfinTM fins on the arms for exercises to strengthen the upper body.

    Alona’s review from Jerusalem, Israel

“Thank you for your great innovation! I am very happy with my shinfinTM fins, and I also get a lot of attention when I swim with them in the pool. I love how I can swim the butterfly better now! And I also love how they help me strengthen my buttocks and stomach too, as well as my legs!”

5 years later: “I use the fins mostly in the swimming pool and it is great! At my last vacation in Greece, I took them with me to swim at the sea. Using the fins helped me to improve my butterfly style and strengthen my middle section. I just love them! Thank you Marc for inventing them! Thanks for being so dedicated to your customers!!!”

  • Below knee amputee triathlon training fins

Andy, a below knee amputee who does triathlon swim training four times a week and is losing weight, finds his shinfinTM fins work really well. With one fin comfortable and secure on his stump and the other fin on his other leg, he finds moving around the pool much easier than with a conventional fin. He feels shinfinTM fins give him real propulsion from both legs, lifting his back end to make him more streamlined and faster. He also feels the fins encourage him to kick naturally from his hips using the stronger muscles in his stomach. What’s more, the fins help him swim much faster with a kickboard too.

  • No sinking legs or bad ankles: natural swim training fins

shinfinTM fins give Mauricio natural swim training, solving his sinking legs problem and the bad ankles he got from standard flippers. This is because shinfinTM fins improve his swim technique by lifting his legs horizontal to keep his body horizontal. So this gives him a better swimming style with smooth, streamlined swimming. Furthermore, they are not bad for his ankles like regular flippers because they strap just above his ankles. So this gives him supple ankles and relaxed feet. Overall, he has less dependence on his arms and is more motivated to swim.

    Mauricio’s review from McLean, USA

“I have used the shinfinTM fins for a couple of years now and I absolutely love them! I swim 3-4 times a week, around 2K each time. Would not be able to do it without these fins. I was never able to solve the problem of “sinking legs” (which makes swimming very hard on the arms and on the motivation…) And the standard flippers are bad for my ankles. Thanks again for this wonderful, wonderful product.”

  • Butterfly technique training session fins

By converting his training sessions from foot fins to shinfinTM fins, Isarez significantly improves his butterfly technique. He feels them enhancing his body hydrodynamics by giving him the correct tension distribution in his lower body, legs and feet. This is because they give him the correct power from his hips. Furthermore, his body remembers his new shinfinTM enhanced butterfly technique, even after he takes them off for training sessions without fins. He gets good training from going into flip-turns a bit harder until the fins lift out of the water, and pushing off with both feet contacting the wall.

    Isarez’s review from London, UK

“I am a butterfly enthusiast. Your shinfinTM fins are worth the extra money, especially for swimmers who are technique-focused. I usually felt I learnt nothing technically from foot fins. In contrast, the shinfinTM fins make me feel true to my body. They give the correct tension distribution throughout the lower-body, legs and feet. This, therefore, enhances the body’s hydrodynamics properly while focusing on and maintaining technique. Taking off the fins, I already feel that I learned to lift up more efficiently in the butterfly (clearing the water surface less vertically for breathing). I must thank you for inventing the shinfinTM fins.”
