• 1 star2 stars3 stars4 stars5 starsI am getting on very well with my shinfin™ fins. I could feel them toning up my muscles immediately! The only problem I’ve had with them is that they keep injuring the skin on my lower legs and feet – rubbing the skin so much that my skin is being rubbed off! Do you have any advice on this? I think unfortunately I do have very sensitive & thin skin. [Marc’s reply: Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) might help reduce the rubbing – swimmers use that quite a lot with foot flippers. Another alternative is to use an old sock – you can cut the foot off it so it just goes underneath the part of the strap that is rubbing. You can also get thin wetsuit socks.] … And later … Your sock idea was just what I needed. I tried it out today in the pool and it solved all my problems! I cut off the foot part and just used it as a “sock tube” around my leg. I swim about 3 days a week on average. So thank you very much for your help.

  • 1 star2 stars3 stars4 stars5 starsMy son [age 10] loves the fins. Because of his partial amputation of one foot and loss of muscles due to burns. He has always had trouble kicking. With the fins he is able to kick very well. The only thing we have had to do is put socks on him under the fins because the straps rub a bit. The reason they rub is because my son’s skin is very thin due to the burns and breaks down very easily. His teacher who told us about the fins has seen a big improvement in his swimming. Thanks.
