Socks between sensitive thin skin & fins

Melisa has very sensitive thin skin, so she wears cut-off socks between her leg and her shinfinTM fins. She wears normal socks but you can also wear wetsuit socks. The fins adjust to fit thin legs and large legs, both with and without wetsuit socks. Melisa swims for fitness about three times a week and immediately feels her fins toning up her muscles.

Melisa’s review from Belvedere, UK

“I am getting on very well with my shinfinTM fins. I could feel them toning up my muscles immediately! Your sock idea was just what I needed. I tried it out today in the pool and it solved all my problems! So thank you very much for your help.”

Melisa’s review: Wears cut-off socks between sensitive thin skin & fins

“I am getting on very well with my shinfinTM fins. I could feel them toning up my muscles immediately! The only problem I’ve had with them is that they keep injuring the skin on my lower legs and feet, rubbing the skin so much that my skin is being rubbed off! Do you have any advice on this? I think unfortunately I do have very sensitive & thin skin. Many thanks.”

I’m glad you are getting on very well with your fins but I’m sorry about the rubbing on your foot. The fins should not really hit your foot because they just lay softly along your foot during the down kick (so you hardly notice it). Do you know why this rubbing happened? Perhaps the straps were a bit loose or the fins a bit low. Or maybe you were not pointing your toes quite enough. Also, did it happen on both legs, or was one fin adjusted different to the other?

So you may like to try fitting the fins at a slightly different position, up or down your leg, to avoid this. Also, petroleum jelly (for example VaselineTM) might help reduce the rubbing. Swimmers use that quite a lot with foot flippers.

Another alternative is to use an old sock. You can cut the foot off it so it just goes underneath the part of the strap that is rubbing. You can also get thin wetsuit socks. Please let me know how you go.

“I doubt this problem was brought on by the design of the fins. Ever since I was a child, I have always had a foot problem with shoes etc. I have foot war wounds to prove it!”

Thank you for letting me know Melisa. I’m glad the sock idea worked for you. Did you leave the sock intact? Or did you cut off the foot part and just use it as a “sock tube” around your leg? How much swimming do you do?

Melisa

“I cut off the foot part and just used it as a “sock tube” around my leg. I swim about 3 days a week on average. And yes of course you may use extracts from my emails, that is absolutely fine.”

Thank you for your kind permission Melisa. Personal recommendation is very important to get a new product like this going, so I really appreciate it. The shinfinTM word is spreading well. All the best.

Conclusion

If you have very sensitive skin or thin skin, you can wear cut-off socks between your legs and your shinfinTM fins. You can wear normal socks or also wetsuit socks. Please see the fin size tips.

Your fins will adjust to fit with and without wetsuit socks and also fit thin legs or large legs. Then you will feel your fins toning up your muscles for fitness swimming, knowing that your skin is protected.

Furthermore, shinfinTM fins offer many other benefits compared to foot fins.
