Stronger muscles, better butterfly: pool & sea fins

For many years, shinfinTM fins have helped to give Alona a better butterfly stroke and stronger muscles in her buttocks, stomach and legs, for improved swim technique in the pool and sea. This is because they encourage her to kick from her hips to give her a better swim style. Alona is also a Pilates instructor and there was some discussion about wearing shinfinTM fins on the arms for exercises to strengthen the upper body.

Alona’s review from Jerusalem, Israel

“Thank you for your great innovation! I am very happy with my shinfinTM fins, and I also get a lot of attention when I swim with them in the pool. I love how I can swim the butterfly better now! And I also love how they help me strengthen my buttocks and stomach too, as well as my legs!”

5 years later: “I use the fins mostly in the swimming pool and it is great! At my last vacation in Greece, I took them with me to swim at the sea. Using the fins helped me to improve my butterfly style and strengthen my middle section. I just love them! Thank you Marc for inventing them! Thanks for being so dedicated to your customers!!!”

Alona’s review: Pool & sea fins for better butterfly & stronger muscles

“Thank you for your great innovation! I am very happy with my shinfinTM fins, and I also get a lot of attention when I swim with them in the pool. I know for certain, that all my friends from the pool at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem will want to buy them, when they will see me swim with them.”

I’m glad you are very happy with your fins. Yes, they really do strengthen your buttocks and stomach and improve your stroke for butterfly, freestyle and backstroke. We get a lot of feedback like that.

“Thank you for your prompt reply. I will try what you suggested and will let you know.”

That is all wonderful to hear. I really enjoy hearing feedback from people, especially those like you who have used the fins for a few years. I’m particularly interested in how people feel the fins have improved their strength, flexibility and swimming style, that kind of thing. Actually, can I ask a favour please? Would you mind if I put some extracts from your emails on the website? Is your swimming feeling more fluent now?

“You can use it for everything you need.”

Thank you for your kind permission Alona. Personal recommendation is very important to help a new product like this along, so I really appreciate it.

“Can you try to think of a new invention for the arms/hands too, something to help people who have problems with their wrists (Carpal tunnel syndrome for instance). The regular equipment available today, is only for the palms. People who are not aware of their wrists, while they swim with those devices, might hurt themselves during swimming, by hyper-extending their wrists. If you will be able to figure out how to invent a device that helps keeping the wrist in a continuous line with the ulna, while swimming, and at the same time strengthen the upper body, that will be great! I would be glad to help you in experiment your new invention, if you’ll have one.”

“Thanks for being so dedicated to your customers!!! I wish you all the best and lots of success in your business.”

Many thanks for your kind reply Alona. Yes, I understand what you mean about some sort of fins for the arms, but I haven’t designed anything like that yet. Maybe someday. Meanwhile, you could have a bit of a play with strapping the shinfinTM fins to your lower arms, probably best with the fin tips sweeping back to your elbows. You can get a few exercises going with them like that which you may find useful. Please let me know what you think, if you decide to give that a go. I see you are a Pilates instructor. Do you like the way kicking with the fins strengthens the core muscles in your back?

Conclusion

shinfinTM fins will help to give you better swimming styles for butterfly, freestyle and backstroke, plus stronger muscles in your buttocks, stomach and legs, for improved swim technique in the pool and sea. By encouraging you to kick from your hips the fins give you a better swim style, and strengthen your core muscles, similar to Pilates exerrcises. You can also try wearing shinfinTM fins on your arms for exercises that strengthen your upper body. They have many uses.

These reviews illustrate them being used for freestyle retraining and for butterfly, backstroke and freestyle workouts. Further reviews show them being used in open water, in rough seas and for snorkeling and surf.
