Instead of swimming in circles, shinfinTM fins allow Paul, a below knee amputee, to enjoy playing with his kids in the pool again. He wears two shinfinTM fins, one on the stump of his below knee amputation, and the other fin in the normal position on his other leg. The fins have a very flexible size and are highly adjustable. So they can be strapped at different heights on each leg as required. Using both fins like this, is what gives Paul back his swimming control and freedom in the water.
Paul’s review from Tainan City, Taiwan
“I am a BK amputee and haven’t been able to swim properly since my amputation 2 years ago. Swimming in circles is really frustrating! Instant freedom! The fins were amazing, I’m really impressed. They are easy to put on and really help me swim and play with my kids in the pool. I’m already recommending the fins to my mates. Once again thanks for an excellent product.”
Paul’s review: Fins for below knee amputee swimming with his kids in the pool again
“I received the fins in a reasonable amount of time and used them while I was on holiday. I am a BK amputee and haven’t been able to swim properly since my amputation 2 years ago. Swimming in circles is really frustrating! Anyway, I hopped to the poolside, wrestled with the fins and slipped into the pool.”

That is wonderful to hear that you are back in the water and enjoying it again, with your kids too.

“By all means use what I wrote. I’m already recommending the fins to my mates. I’m not sure if the wife got any pictures but if I find any I’ll pass them along. Once again thanks for an excellent product.”

Thank you for your kind permission Paul. Personal recommendation is very important to help a new product like this along, so I really appreciate it. Photos would be great if you can get any please, It would be very useful for other amputees to see the BKA fitting.
Conclusion
If you are a below knee amputee or an above knee amputee, shinfinTM fins will stop you swimming in circles. So you can enjoy swimming again and playing with your kids in the pool etc.
It is best to wear two shinfinTM fins, one on your stump and the other fin in the normal position on your other leg. Wear one fin on each stump if you are a bilateral amputee. You can strap each fin at different heights on each leg as required. The fins are highly adjustable with a very flexible size to allow this. Using both fins will help you regain your swimming control and freedom in the water.
These other reviews show the fins giving a horizontal position with a consistent kick rhythm and a better leg workout too. These further reviews show how the fins work for different amputations, a transtibial amputee pool swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving, a bilateral osseointegration below knee amputee snorkeling and a through knee amputee pool swimming.
