Feet free (walk) fins reviews

Fins that leave your feet free to enjoy life!
Fins that leave your feet free to enjoy life!

Feet free is a key benefit of shinfin™ fins, as shown in the customer reviews below. Your feet and ankles are relaxed and free because these fins strap around your legs.

So they have no cumbersome, bulky foot pocket like regular fins. This makes it easier and safer for you to walk, climb steps and ladders, dive, swim, turn and ride boards etc.

Enjoy the customer feet free reviews below. To learn more, please also see the feet free fins article and the feet free fins FAQ. Related fitting benefits are described in the adjustable fins article, the comfortable fins article and the strong light fins article.

  • Power, wave control & push off: body surfing fins

For Doug (previously a professional lifeguard), the key body surfing benefits of shinfinTM fins are a strong punch of power, control in the wave and feet free to push off from the bottom. He gets the power he needs because shinfinTM fins are hip powered by the larger muscles in his thighs, buttocks, stomach and torso. Control to get into the wave pocket happens because the fins are on his legs, not his feet. What’s more, a wave slamming and rolling him doesn’t rip them off, unlike foot flippers.

Doug’s review from Venice Beach, USA

“I’ve been using the fins extensively. I got a strong punch of power out of the shinfinTM fins. And just like you guys said, I got an impressive increase in control while in the wave. But here is what was really cool. Because of the design of the shinfinTM fins, I was able to plant my feet firmly on the bottom/reef and push off and kick. It takes the right tide level to pull this off. But when you can do it, it’s awesome. It allows you to get into waves and places in the wave I’ve only seen dolphins utilize! It seems that the added vector control realized by the shinfinTM fins allows me to control angle of descent and climb. This equates to the ability to get into the wave pocket, which is really what it’s all about!”

“I just realized something else Marc. When I got rag-dolled on that first wave, any normal fin would have most likely been ripped off my feet (it’s happened before). My shinfinTM fins were moved around but I still had them! And that’s what’s counts.”

  • Fused ankles & Arthrogryposis clubbed feet fins

With fused ankles and clubbed feet due to Arthrogryposis, Elise really enjoys her shinfinTM fins for fitness swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. She positions them on her legs to get the maximum benefits. In particular, they build her muscle mass so her legs and feet have much more strength and stamina. This is because they get power from her hips, using the larger muscles in her thighs, buttocks, stomach and torso. In addition, she wears them to walk safely to and from the water. All in contrast to normal flippers, which fall off her feet and are just not safe for her to wear.

    Elise’s review from Stanmore, Australia

“Thank you shinfinTM. You have given me access to something that not only adds enjoyment to my swimming, snorkeling and diving but is helping to improve my overall health and well-being. It is actually helping me build muscle mass and making my legs and feet capable of doing much more in terms of strength and stamina. My ankles were surgically fused. I was born with Arthrogryposis which causes ‘clubbed feet’. So I have never been able to use normal flippers before. So I do need to offer my sincere thanks for making such a great product. I have recommended them to everyone who has asked ‘ooh where did you get those??’ Able bodied and not-so-able bodied people are jealous that I have a pair of flippers that not only look cool but they are so functional.”

  • Walk, stand & maneuver easily: powerful body surfing fins

shinfinTM fins give Pete powerful body surfing and also let him walk and stand in the water, and maneuver easily to catch waves. This is because they attach to his legs, so his feet are free. Furthermore, kick power comes from his hips, using the stronger muscles in his thighs, buttocks and torso. So his end result is better control on the waves, faster body surfing and less fatigue.

Pete’s review from Harrington Park, USA

“They’re great. Biggest benefit is you don’t have to put them on in the water. And you can walk in the ocean with them on. Plus, they give you plenty of power to get the fatter waves. And when you want to take a break from swimming, you can stand in them. Big plus, as you can’t stand in the water with regular fins on.”

“Took my shinfinTM fins with me on my world body surfing tour this summer. They worked great, especially taking into consideration the vicious shore break there. They are very easy to maneuver around in once you are out there too. And no problem standing at all when you are only up to your waist, to take a break. You can walk in as opposed to swimming in all the time, so the fatigue factor is much less.”

  • Comfortable fit with hammertoes & bunions: snorkeling fins

shinfinTM fins fit Catherine comfortably and allow her to snorkel again, even though she has severe hammertoes and bunions on her feet. They minimise foot pain because they attach above her ankles and leave her feet free. Furthermore, they are adjustable to different heights and angles on her legs. So they also relax her ankles and feet. In contrast, Catherine finds fitting regular foot fins impossible.

Catherine’s review from Los Angeles, USA

“Thank you so much for your invention. I have severe hammertoes and bunions, and finding fins that fit was impossible. Last year when I tried snorkeling in Hawaii, I was so frustrated because I could not find fins that I could wear. Now, thanks to discovering the shinfinTM fins, I am able to snorkel 🤿 and not feel bad being left out. I can’t thank you enough for helping improve my quality of life.”

  • No back pain & can wear with shoes: snorkeling fins

With shinfinTM fins Bjorn can snorkel with no back pain, unlike with his foot fins, and also wear them with reef shoes. So now he can walk into and out of the water with ease, and snorkel for hours in comfort. Furthermore, he very much likes their natural swimming feel, kicking from his hips, similar to good normal swimming. Most of all, he doesn’t have to give up snorkeling!

Bjorn’s review from Currumbin Valley, Australia

“I have to say that they were absolutely fantastic! I have previously felt back pain after using normal feet fins when using them for as little as 1 hour. So I was about to give up my new found love of snorkeling all together. This time, I was in the water for many hours over several days and I never once felt any back pain! Truly remarkable! Not only were the shinfinTM fins great for my back, but they allowed me to swim while wearing my flexible reef boots. Which allowed very easy getting in and out of the water and walking over the hard coral beaches, while others looked on with curious envy. Overall I am extremely satisfied and can say that I absolutely love my shinfinTM fins!”

  • River float tube fishing fins: mobile & versatile

Sean enjoys much more mobility, versatility and water safety when river float tube fishing with his shinfinTM fins. Fundamentally, they give him better control to navigate river currents and then stay where he wishes to fish. The fins also leave his feet free to walk easier and push off the river floor, rocks, trees and other obstacles. What’s more, he can wear them with river shoes for extra protection.

    Sean’s review from Casper, USA

“Since I have been using shinfinTM fins while fishing down Wyoming’s stretches of the North Platte river in a float tube, I have enjoyed an unbelievable increase in mobility and versatility! These are qualities that are of utmost importance when floating a river. I can get where I want to be in the currents and stay there. And I don’t lose the ability to wear river shoes and use my feet when I need them most, which is, quite frankly, all the time. They therefore make it much safer as well, giving me a liberated feeling and peace of mind.”

“shinfinTM fins are a remarkable invention. They have completely changed the game for me when it comes to fishing the river! It’s a whole new experience now!”

  • Training, water running & snorkeling fins

Peggy values the multipurpose nature of shinfinTM fins for her swim training, water running, snorkeling and open water swimming. She finds they help her immensely with body positioning, balance and overall compatibility with the water. This is because they promote a smooth swimming style and leave her feet free. Of course, this also allows her to walk into the water for snorkeling.

    Peggy’s review from Saskatchewan, Canada

“I want to use the fins for swim training, water running and snorkeling. What a difference! Kicking seemed so effortless, yet effective. With almost no effort, I was cruising past people I normally don’t pass. Then I played, dolphined down the pool, tried some water running and had a great time. I’m sure I’ll enjoy them enormously, and will spread the word here. It is about balance, and I loved the way I felt more ‘compatible’ with the water.”

(Later) I continue to love the fins, and wore them snorkeling in Aruba with great success. People who were backing through the water with traditional fins did display some jealousy that I was able to walk straight in. I treasure them and will continue to take them ‘on tour’ with me wherever my swimsuit and goggles go.”

  • Better snorkeling control & lap swimming fins

Like many people, Jan Carlos uses his shinfinTM fins for multiple activities, finding them great for lap swimming and giving more control when snorkeling. As he feels, this is because they target the correct muscles to give him a powerful kick from his hips. Moreover, their extra control, together with leaving his feet free and not protruding beyond his toes, reduces unwanted damage to frail coral reefs (unlike long foot fins).

Juan Carlos’ review from Brisbane, Australia

“Overall, I’m very happy with my shinfinTM fins. Thanks for a great product and for the support. The initial experience could be a bit disappointing, but in no time you find the benefits. You feel the target muscles working. They are working great for my lap swimming. For snorkeling, they worked fine and you feel you are more in control when trying not to damage the frail coral reefs.”

  • Faster paddling & wave catching: bodyboarding fins

Liz’s shinfinTM fins give her faster, easier paddling on her bodyboard and extra speed for catching waves. She paddles out lying horizontal on her bodyboard, doing freestyle arms and kicking at the same time. Sharing the power like this, she finds it faster and much less tiring on her arms and legs. The same faster paddling and wave catching benefits also apply to kneeboarding and surfing.

Liz’s review from Guernsey, Channel Islands

“I first want to say how great they are. I have been using them bodyboarding and they are a fantastic step forward from old style fins. They seem to really add extra speed to bodyboarding. They’re especially great for getting some extra momentum going on waves that have almost been missed. Also make paddling out much easier which helps to catch those big waves. I have been paddling out lying horizontal on the board and the fins really add some power. So it’s much less tiring on the legs and arms. Thanks for a great product 🙂.”

  • Big surf & beach break: body surfing & bodyboarding fins

shinfinTM fins leave Phil’s feet free to move for shallow water beach breaks and power him for big surf bodyboarding and body surfing. Also, he sometimes wears shinfinTM fins and regular foot fins together. What’s more, Phil appreciates that shinfinTM fins don’t give him calf cramps or toe rash like regular foot fins.

Phil’s review from Huntington Beach, USA

“I really like the fact that when I am body surfing or bodyboarding in a beach break, my feet can be free to move in shallow water. In real big surf, I can increase my propulsion greatly by putting on my regular foot fins also! Thanks for your nice product! Thanks for putting a great new fin on the surf market.”
