By simply doing laps with her shinfinTM fins, Margo also learns much stronger normal swimming without fins. This is because they help her learn to swim in the correct kicking position with straighter legs. So they give her more hip power and efficiency. As a result, her swimming feels very easy. She can swim twice as far without getting tired, thus boosting her swimming confidence. So her swim learning with shinfinTM fins transfers to greatly improve her swimming without fins too. Furthermore, she finds the fin comfort wonderful and no longer gets cramping in her feet and toes when she swims without fins.
Margo’s review from Weetangera, Australia
“Just to let you know that I took your suggestion of trying to swim without the fins, after having done a number of laps with them. Couldn’t believe how much stronger my ‘normal’ swimming was! I kept my legs straight when kicking, and moved with more power and efficiency through the water (and so far, no cramps!). I am sure this is due to my body having been ‘trained’ into the correct position when using the fins.”
Margo’s review: Learning stronger normal no-fins swimming
“Been using the fins about 3 times a week. Lots of interest from other ladies in the lap lanes! I find that the fins make swimming feel very easy, which is a great confidence booster. But almost TOO easy, so that I’m not sure that I am expending sufficient effort! It is incredible to me that I can swim 50-60 laps in the 25-m pool without feeling tired, whereas about 30 laps used to be my limit before.”
“But what is really exceptional is the fact that there is NO cramping in feet or toes. Wonderful!!”
“All in all, I am very happy with the investment and think that you have a good product that should be more widely available. Some of the ladies at the pool did ask me if they could be purchased at the shop!”

Many thanks for your reply Margo. I’m glad you are finding them so good for your laps. Yes, we get a lot of feedback like this. Most likely the fins are helping to keep your body horizontal, streamlining your stroke and improving your technique and speed.
It is quite normal that people can swim faster and further. That is what I have designed them to do!
Over time, you should also find that these improvements transfer to your no fins swimming too. Have you noticed this? After swimming with the fins, try a few laps of no-fins freestyle at the end and see what you think. I’d love to hear.

“I have to admit that I haven’t tried no-fins swimming yet, as I thought the contrast would be too frightening! I was also concerned about the likelihood of foot/toe cramps. However, I will give it a try this week and see what happens, and let you know.”

Many thanks for your email Margo. That’s great. We get a lot of feedback like this. It is fascinating how the body learns new patterns. Happy swimming!

“I think there is a lot of potential for shinfinTM fins to be used in learn-to-swim classes (especially with adults). So I hope you are doing a roaring trade!”

Yes, they are going well for learn-to-swim, as well as many other uses, thank you.
Conclusion
By simply doing laps with shinfinTM fins, you can learn much stronger normal swimming without fins too. They will straighten your legs to help you develop stronger power from your hips. You will learn to swim more efficiently, in the correct kicking position. So your swimming will feel smoother and easier. You will probably also be able to swim much further, with more confidence and without getting as tired.
All this swim learning will transfer to strengthen your normal no-fins swimming too. You will also enjoy the fin comfort. Furthermore, if you previously suffered from foot cramps or toe cramps when swimming without fins, your newly learned swimming kick may avoid this suffering.
