Hip power fins reviews

Fins powered from your hips!
Fins powered from your hips!

Hip power is a key benefit of shinfin™ fins, as shown in the customer reviews below. They give you a natural, powerful kick from your hips using the stronger muscles in your thighs and torso.

This guides you towards correct kick timing with a more constant speed within each stroke, which is more efficient. They also build your muscle memory for this correct streamlined kick. So your stronger, hip power kick transfers to your no-fins swimming too.

  • Hip therapy & walking: exercise fins

Following his hip replacement, Nick’s shinfinTM fins are an important part of his therapy, which including for water walking exercise and lap swimming. Light and flexible, he finds them perfect for strengthening his glutes and leg muscles because they encourage him to kick with power from his hips. Furthermore, his myofascial back muscle pain is lessening too.

Nick’s review from White Bear Lake, USA

“My experience with them has been very good. I’m trying to get back into some sort of condition after hip replacement surgery. shinfinTM fins made sense to me. Light, flexible and perfect for strengthening my legs and glutes after several years of a deteriorating hip, followed by hip replacement surgery. I look forward to shinfinTM fins as the last part of my workout in a therapy pool. If I have any energy left after the laps, then I use the fins in some walking exercises in the pool. They’ve become an important part of my therapy and are such an improvement over the inflexible, heavy, awkward old-fashioned fins. In all, I look forward to a longer and happier life with my shinfinTM fins.”

  • Proper stroke & breathing & position: triathlon training fins

Triathlon training with shinfinTM fins streamlines Charles’ body position, balances his breathing, lengthens his stroke and properly uses the larger muscles in his glutes. This all happens because shinfinTM fins lift his body more horizontal, train more powerful kicking from his hips and give him correct freestyle timing. Most importantly, this transfers to give him a faster, smoother and more efficient freestyle technique.

    Charles’ review from Queens, USA

“In a nutshell, I luv em! My shinfinTM fins recruit the larger muscle groups in my glutes. So I am now using less energy for the same amount of distance. They assist me in developing a feel for proper body position in the water. I was able to stretch out and really get a feel of my stroke. So I could definitely feel a better balance as far as my breathing goes. Which in turn encourages me to lengthen my stroke. WAY COOL! I am definitely improving. I was able to keep proper form for a longer period of time. Thanks for such an innovative product.”

  • Learn stronger normal swimming without fins too

By simply doing laps with her shinfinTM fins, Margo also learns much stronger normal swimming without fins. This is because they help her learn to swim in the correct kicking position with straighter legs. So they give her more hip power and efficiency. As a result, her swimming feels very easy. She can swim twice as far without getting tired, thus boosting her swimming confidence. So her swim learning with shinfinTM fins transfers to greatly improve her swimming without fins too. Furthermore, she finds the fin comfort wonderful and no longer gets cramping in her feet and toes when she swims without fins.

    Margo’s review from Weetangera, Australia

“Just to let you know that I took your suggestion of trying to swim without the fins, after having done a number of laps with them. Couldn’t believe how much stronger my ‘normal’ swimming was! I kept my legs straight when kicking, and moved with more power and efficiency through the water (and so far, no cramps!). I am sure this is due to my body having been ‘trained’ into the correct position when using the fins.”

  • Weak arms & mobility: disability fins

Amanda has a mobility disability and, as her arms can also be quite weak, she fits her shinfinTM fins using the alternative strapping for weaker fingers. They adjust to fit her larger legs and allow her to share her fins. By encouraging kicking from the hips, they have greatly improved her kick and swimming comfort. Furthermore, her brother could feel them improving his swim style after only one use.

    Amanda’s review from Canberra, Australia

“I have noticed a great improvement in my kick and have really enjoyed the way they work the legs and buttocks. I have a mobility disability and find that the fins make my swim a lot more comfortable. One great thing is being able to share them – much easier than with conventional flippers! But, I am a bit reluctant ’cause I love them so much.”

    Steve’s review from Perth, Australia

“For snorkeling they are excellent, being able to walk in and out of the water quite easily. By using the whole of the leg as a kicking action, you use far less energy and do not get tired.”
