Smooth swimming fins reviews

Streamlined fins for more force!
Streamlined fins for more force!

Smooth swimming is a key benefit of shinfin™ fins, as shown in the customer reviews below. They give you higher and straighter hips, thighs and knees. This lifts your legs and body more horizontal. That reduces wasted energy from the water drag on your thighs and body. So you swim more efficiently. This is how they guide you into a smooth, streamlined kick for faster swimming.

  • Snorkeling without back strain & reef boot walking with fins

Bjorn absolutely loves his shinfinTM fins because they allow him to snorkel again in comfort, without back strain and also to wear his flexible reef boots to walk and swim. Furthermore, he really likes the natural feel of shinfinTM fins. The finds them close to normal smooth swimming with power from his hips. This is all in complete contrast to normal foot fins, which previously caused him so much back pain that he nearly gave up snorkeling altogether!

Bjorn’s review from Currumbin Valley, Australia

“I went snorkeling and have to say that they were absolutely fantastic! I bought the fins primarily to reduce the strain exerted on my lower back. In the water for many hours, over several days, and I never once felt any back pain! Truly remarkable! Not only were the fins great for my back, they allowed me to swim while wearing my flexible reef boots. This allowed very easy getting in and out of the water and walking over the hard coral beaches, while others looked on with curious envy. Overall I am extremely satisfied and can say that I absolutely love my shinfinTM fins!”

  • Bilateral below knee amputee lap swimming fins

shinfinTM fins allow Amy, a bilateral below knee amputee, to lap swim again. The fins give her a natural linear balance with power from her hip flexors. This is because her forward motion causes water pressure on the fins, which lifts her legs and body linear and streamlined. So she finds that the fins give her an awesome whole body workout, critical for rebuilding her core body strength and endurance.

    Amy’s review from Harwick, USA

“I am a 54 year old woman with both legs amputated below the knee and I have been struggling to swim again. I could not remain linear and my residual limbs provided no propulsion. The shinfinTM fins changed everything. I feel whole again. Swimming laps feels natural and my linear balance was perfect. I am in a state of sheer joy! Thank you! The shinfinTM fins enable me to to work on my hip flexors, which is important because I spend so much time in my wheelchair. The whole body workout is awesome.”

  • Ocean & indoor chlorine pools: lap swimming fins

For 8 years, Julia has been swimming laps with her shinfinTM fins in indoor chlorine pools and ocean pools. In fact, she finds she cannot swim without them. This is because they give her such a comfortable and smooth swimming style. She swims a couple of times a week and the fins have lasted many years. Because chlorinated pools have degraded the strap rubber over the years, she replaced the straps after 8 years. Rinsing the fins after use increases their life, especially the straps.

    Julia’s review from Merrylands, Australia

“Love my shinfinTM fins even after 8 years. Cannot swim without them. I am a great ambassador for shinfinTM fins! I tell everyone to buy a pair.”

  • Enhanced swimming sessions: performance fins

Like many people, Kin Wai feels his shinfinTM fins definitely enhance his swimming session performance. This is because their design gives him a better swimming style and helps him to achieve smoother swimming overall. Furthermore, they encourage performance kicking from his hips, which then transfers to his swim training without fins. In contrast, foot fins, worn on your feet, means they cannot achieve any of this.

    Kin Wai’s review from Singapore

“The fins are great! They’ve definitely enhanced my swimming sessions. I took a little while to get used to them, because the straps felt strange. But now that I’m used to them, the fins perform well.”

  • No ankle strain: pool lap training fins

Pool lap training with shinfinTM fins, over 8 years, has been fantastic for Terry because they avoid the ankle strain he gets with normal flippers. This is because they strap to his legs just above his ankles. So they are comfortable without adding extra straining forces through his ankles. Furthermore, they keep him streamlined in the water, even for gentle kicking. Then they give him the extra speed for swim training when he increases his leg power.

Terry’s review from Peregian Beach, Australia

“I swim laps at the pool. Wearing the shinfinTM fins keeps me streamlined in the water. Just gently moving my legs is enough to keep me streamlined but if I use a bit of leg power I pick up speed. Having fragile ankles, I find normal flippers place strain on my ankles. But the shinfinTM fins are fantastic, no strain and they work beautifully. I couldn’t be happier with my shinfinTM fins and would recommend them to anyone, bad ankles or not. Thanks.”

  • Don’t aggravate Achilles: smooth lap swimming fins

For about 15 years, shinfinTM fins have allowed Francis to swim laps again, with a smooth swimming style that doesn’t aggravate his Achilles tendons. He finds them fantastic for freestyle and backstroke, feeling them adding strength to his hip areas and the rest of his legs. This is because they give a smooth kick action which is more comfortable. Being lightweight yet very tough, they allow relaxed feet and supple ankles, which takes the strain off his Achilles tendons.

Francis’ review from Mount Eliza, Australia

“The shinfinTM fins have been fantastic. Great for swimming smoothly, controlling the fast-paced foot kicking action that aggravated my Achilles. Allowing me to continue lap swimming, something I really want to do! So they have been great, worth every cent!”

“I have had my shinfinTM fins now for close to 15 years and absolutely love them. Put simply, they allowed me to keep swimming! Ironically, I damaged my Achilles using regular flippers and was told by a doctor that continuing to swim might hurt it again. Especially as I have a sort of flapping action when I kick my feet, whipping them up and down in the kicking action. The shinfinTM fin requires you to kick more from the thigh down, and takes the pressure off the feet. So I swim a reasonably long way, and on a regular basis, without pain. I highly recommend them.”

  • Training, water running & snorkeling fins

Peggy values the multipurpose nature of shinfinTM fins for her swim training, water running, snorkeling and open water swimming. She finds they help her immensely with body positioning, balance and overall compatibility with the water. This is because they promote a smooth swimming style and leave her feet free. Of course, this also allows her to walk into the water for snorkeling.

    Peggy’s review from Saskatchewan, Canada

“I want to use the fins for swim training, water running and snorkeling. What a difference! Kicking seemed so effortless, yet effective. With almost no effort, I was cruising past people I normally don’t pass. Then I played, dolphined down the pool, tried some water running and had a great time. I’m sure I’ll enjoy them enormously, and will spread the word here. It is about balance, and I loved the way I felt more ‘compatible’ with the water.”

(Later) I continue to love the fins, and wore them snorkeling in Aruba with great success. People who were backing through the water with traditional fins did display some jealousy that I was able to walk straight in. I treasure them and will continue to take them ‘on tour’ with me wherever my swimsuit and goggles go.”

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis & Lupus: mobility fins

shinfinTM fins give Sharman mobility benefits for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus issues with her hip, because they enable her to swim smoothly. They increase her mobility, help her stay agile and also assist with weight loss.

    Sharman’s review from Kensington, USA

“I love my fins. Actually notice the difference with my leg and hip. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus type issues with my hip. Swimming is what I do to stay agile and to increase and maintain my mobility as well as weight. I still glided through the water like a mermaid! Great product and I own it!”

  • Learn stronger normal swimming without fins too

By simply doing laps with her shinfinTM fins, Margo also learns much stronger normal swimming without fins. This is because they help her learn to swim in the correct kicking position with straighter legs. So they give her more hip power and efficiency. As a result, her swimming feels very easy. She can swim twice as far without getting tired, thus boosting her swimming confidence. So her swim learning with shinfinTM fins transfers to greatly improve her swimming without fins too. Furthermore, she finds the fin comfort wonderful and no longer gets cramping in her feet and toes when she swims without fins.

    Margo’s review from Weetangera, Australia

“Just to let you know that I took your suggestion of trying to swim without the fins, after having done a number of laps with them. Couldn’t believe how much stronger my ‘normal’ swimming was! I kept my legs straight when kicking, and moved with more power and efficiency through the water (and so far, no cramps!). I am sure this is due to my body having been ‘trained’ into the correct position when using the fins.”

  • Kick with whole leg: snorkeling fins

Steve notices thatshinfinTM fins encourage him to kick from his hip with his whole leg when he snorkels. So he finds he uses far less energy and doesn’t get tired because streamlining his body to swim faster is more efficient. Also, his feet are free to wear his shinfinTM fins with diving boots so he can safely walk in and out of the water, avoiding sharp objects and marine life in reef areas.

    Steve’s review from Perth, Australia

“For snorkeling they are excellent, being able to walk in and out of the water quite easily. By using the whole of the leg as a kicking action, you use far less energy and do not get tired.”
